Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Expansion Launches Tomorrow with Two New Classes

The wait is almost over. Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred arrives tomorrow, April 28, marking the game's second major expansion and one of the most ambitious additions to the franchise in years. The expansion brings two new classes, a revamped endgame, and the return of the legendary Horadric Cube — all woven into a campaign that takes players to the sun-drenched island of Skovos.

Available across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, the expansion launches simultaneously worldwide as part of the Season of Reckoning.

Two New Classes Join the Fight

The Paladin and the Warlock are the headline additions. The Paladin, a fan-favorite from Diablo II, returns as a frontline warrior wielding holy power with a combat style that blends melee devastation and divine magic. Warlock players, meanwhile, will command darker forces with summoning and curse mechanics that offer a distinct alternative to the Necromancer.

Both classes feature full skill trees with new transformative skill variants, giving players deep customization options from the outset.

The Horadric Cube Returns

Perhaps the most nostalgic addition is the return of the Horadric Cube, a central crafting tool from Diablo II that allows players to combine items in powerful new ways. Alongside the Cube, the expansion introduces the Talisman and Set Bonus system, giving players more ways to chase meaningful loot and build synergies across their gear.

War Plans and Echoing Hatred

Expansion owners also gain access to War Plans, a new strategic layer that impacts how players approach the endgame. The Echoing Hatred system adds a persistent challenge mechanic that scales with player power, ensuring the endgame stays engaging long after the Skovos campaign wraps up.

Twenty New Skill Variants

Beyond the new classes, expansion owners receive 20 additional transformative bonus skill variants that can be applied across all existing classes. These variants fundamentally alter how skills behave, opening up build possibilities that were not previously available and breathing new life into characters players have been running for months.

With the Season of Reckoning kicking off alongside the expansion, all players can expect seasonal updates, new challenges, and quality-of-life improvements. But the full Lord of Hatred experience — including the Skovos campaign, both new classes, and all 20 skill variants — requires the expansion purchase.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred launches April 28, 2026 at 12:30 AM BST as a globally synchronized release across all platforms.
